2017 Shiraz Grape Harvest

The Shiraz grapes are our first to ripen.

In mid-August we began testing the sugars

both scientifically

and sensually.

August 22-23 it was time!

And friends new and old

came to join us

for our first harvest

of the 2017 season.

The vines

had grown beautifully

after a winter of good rain

and the fruitset

was prime and ready

for all to join in

together

and harvest.

Buckets were filled

and then loaded

into bins for transfer to the winery.

After the work was done, we relaxed with wine tasting

and yummy food

for all to enjoy

in a Harvest BBQ feast.

Special visitors came

and our friend from Paris, Elise, tried her first s’more ever!

The next day we hiked

to the hilltop

to overlook the vineyard

and the farmer rested.
