- The Shiraz grapes are our first to ripen.
- In mid-August we began testing the sugars
- both scientifically
- and sensually.
- August 22-23 it was time!
- And friends new and old
- came to join us
- for our first harvest
- of the 2017 season.
- The vines
- had grown beautifully
- after a winter of good rain
- and the fruitset
- was prime and ready
- for all to join in
- together
- and harvest.
- Buckets were filled
- and then loaded
- into bins for transfer to the winery.
- After the work was done, we relaxed with wine tasting
- and yummy food
- for all to enjoy
- in a Harvest BBQ feast.
- Special visitors came
- and our friend from Paris, Elise, tried her first s’more ever!
- The next day we hiked
- to the hilltop
- to overlook the vineyard
- and the farmer rested.
