Many hands make light work–and get a lot done–with smiles on our faces. Folks gathered from near and far, families, friends, newcomers and returning participants. All were ready to jump into the spring projects in the vineyard. First up was desuckering the vines, removing extra growth on the trunk of each vine. Then focus shifted to the main project of rejuvenating the oldest section in the vineyard that was planted in 1995. We have learned so much more about the design of a dry-farmed vineyard that we wanted to apply to this section as well. It is now renewed with more spacing between rows. In between our work, we were noursihed by treats and meals created by Brendan and Alice and time to relax and gather around the campfire together. This was the final weekend of our UCSB spring intern, Sofie Olson. She was joined by her parents as they worked together and she shared Condor’s Hope with them. We also welcomed Brigit Lewin and her UCSB Environmental Education students who joined us for the weekend. We hope everyone will join us for the upcoming harvests to see the fruits of their labor.
