Many joined our annual Memorial Day Work Weekend at Condor’s Hope: families, students from UCSB, friends. No one was too young or too old to lend a helping hand. Some were new to Condor’s Hope and many have made it a tradition to return to the annual work party year after year. Together we added our hands to help manage some of the vineyard’s spring growth. We desuckered vines (pruned extra branches and growth from the grapevines). We weeded around each vine so that the weeds would not pull out water from the ground we were conserving as part of our dry farmed system. And we planted some new vines. We were all feasted throughout the weekend by Chef Brendan and the Condor’s Hope team. Teams were led by two of our UCSB spring interns Aubrey and Jordan as the culmination of their spring internships. Together we made the vineyard ready for summer growth. Thank you!
With good rains, there was good spring growth. We were ready to help manage it. Ellie connect with each vine she pruned. Friends worked together. Folks connected working together. We learned through doing. The meals were introduced. and enjoyed. Wine was discussed and poured. New vines were added. and watered. And adopted by our kids’ team. We THANK the many hands that prepared the vineyard for summer.
