![]() Winter 2011 We wish you and your family happy holidays and joy and good health in the year ahead! To celebrate the holidays, this wine club selection focuses on Zinfandel—from our own vineyard as well as the old vine Zin of our mentor, Benito Dusi of Paso Robles. Both vineyards use the traditional rain-dependent dry farm system resulting in variances in the essence of the wine each year. In both the half and full case selections you’ll be able to compare the blackberry flavors of ‘06, the raspberry finish of ’07, and the cherry and dark chocolate tastes of ’08, to the jammy fruit blend of ’05, and the deep, mellow raspberry/cherry tones of our newly released ’09. You will also savor the uniqueness of old vine Zin cared for in this traditional dry farm system. Normally the winter wine club selection includes our own olive oil produced from trees planted between our grape vines. Unfortunately, a late frost in May killed the olive flower buds. So we are sad to say that we had no olive production in 2011. However, the trees are fully recovered and we look forward to a bountiful harvest in 2012. Our wines are made from the fruit of the vines of our family’s small 5-acre vineyard in the foothills of the Sierra Madre Mountains in the western Cuyama Valley of northern Santa Barbara County. Our carefully tended vines produce grapes that are sustainably grown using head-pruned and dry-farmed practices that are soil, water, and biodiversity conserving. We wish you a very Zinny holiday and hope our wines enhance the enjoyment of time with family and friends.
